Federated Identity Management: InCommon and Shibboleth

Virginia Tech participates in federated identity management, allowing services provided by other institutions to authenticate and authorize Virginia Tech individuals securely and with appropriate protection of confidentiality. Virginia Tech's membership in the InCommon Federation establishes a level of trust between InCommon identity providers and service providers that is facilitated with secure information exchange using Shibboleth.
