For university faculty and staff, Virginia Tech has a contract with several different carriers for several devices at competitive prices. For more information, visit the Communications Network Services Cellular Services Web site.
Most mobile devices can connect to Virginia Tech's encrypted VT-Wireless wireless network as well as Virginia Tech's unencrypted VT_WLAN wireless network. For instructions on connecting to the VT-Wireless wireless network, click the link that corresponds to your mobile device operating system.
Most mobile devices can be configured to connect to your Virginia Tech email account. Because of the wide variety of mail clients for mobile computing devices, it is not possible for 4Help to test and support all clients. 4Help provides basic configurations for Virginia Tech email accounts.
4Help provides limited technical support, primarily basic configuration settings, for configuring mobile devices to connect to Virginia Tech wireless networks and to access Virginia Tech Google Apps Mail accounts. Step-by-step instructions for your mobile device will be added to the answers.vt.edu knowledge base as they become available.
If instructions for your device are not available in the knowledge base, you can try configuring it using the basic settings provided above. For assistance other than initial configuration, refer to your cellular service carrier and/or your mobile device vendor Web site.
