Virginia Tech Google E-Mail for AlumniVirginia Tech Information Technology, in conjunction with the Alumni Association, is pleased to be able to provide expanded features for your alumni e-mail account through Google Apps for Education. Your VT alumni e-mail address will remain [Your PID]@vt.edu and you may continue to use any aliases you created. However, in order to continue using this address and to avoid losing your aliases and any stored e-mail, you must transition to the new Google service before your current VT e-mail account expires. If you have been directed to this page by an e-mail you recently received alerting you that it is time to transition, you have until the deadline stated to transition without any interruption of service or loss of messages. This deadline occurs approximately one year after graduation. For instructions on how to transition to the new Google e-mail service, please refer to Transitioning Your VT Mail E-mail Account to a Virginia Tech Google Services Account. Important: Once established, this e-mail address is searchable and available to other VT Domain users. If you require greater confidentiality, the Google E-mail for alumni service may not be appropriate for your needs. Contents:VT Google E-mail Service Features VT Google E-mail Service Features
Who Is Eligible for VT Google E-mail Service?Virginia Tech alumni who have no other active affiliation with the University (for example, those who are not taking classes or employed by Virginia Tech) are eligible to use this service. To verify that you are eligible, follow the instructions for transitioning your account found at Transitioning Your VT Mail E-mail Account to a Virginia Tech Google Services Account. If you are unable to log in to MyVT, contact 4Help by phone at (540) 231-HELP (4357). They can verify whether you have a PID and, if so, reset your password. If you do not have the option of activating a Google Services account within MyVT, you are not currently eligible. If you believe that this is an error, contact the Virginia Tech Alumni Association by phone at (540) 231-6285. Your records may not be designated with alumni status or you may have another active affiliation that is interfering. If the deadline has passed and your VT alumni e-mail account has expired, you may still begin using the VT Google e-mail service at any time. However, we cannot guarantee that any e-mail aliases associated with your account or any e-mail stored in your old account will be available after the deadline. To enable your VT Google e-mail service, see Transitioning Your VT Mail E-mail Account to a Virginia Tech Google Services Account. If you are an alumnus who has a VT PID, try following the instructions at Transitioning Your VT Mail E-mail Account to a Virginia Tech Google Services Account. If you are unable to log in, contact 4Help by phone at (540) 231-HELP (4357). They can verify whether you have a PID and, if so, reset your password.
