Uploading & Managing Filebox FilesYou can upload and manage files on your Web site using either a WebDAV client, Web Folders for Windows, or the Filebox Interface. To see a chart comparing the three options, see Transferring Files to an Account. ContentsWebDAV ClientsThe WebDAV Clients available are WebDrive for Windows or Goliath for Mac OS X. The Web address/URL you will need to connect to via WebDrive and
Goliath is https://dav.filebox.vt.edu/users/[Your
PID]
WebDrive for WindowsYou can use the software WebDrive to publish and manage files and folders on your Web site. WebDrive is not a filemanager on its own but rather software that makes your Web site's files appear as a local drive. Just like the "C:" drive is your local harddrive, you choose which drive, such as "W:", that you want WebDrive to use for your site. In effect, when you are connected to your Web site via WebDrive it is just like working on your local harddrive. You can use the familiar Windows Explorer or My Computer interface or any other filemanager software to drag-and-drop, rename and delete files, and create and remove folders. Follow the steps below to install and configure WebDrive. Goliath for Mac OS XWe recommend that you use the software Goliath to upload files to your Web site. Using Goliath is much like using your former FTP client, e.g., Fetch. You can drag-and-drop, delete files, and create and remove folders. For instructions, refer to Downloading and Configuring Goliath to Connect to the Filebox Service. Direct Connection to the ServerWindowsTo add a Web Folder to connect to your filebox or hosting site in Windows, refer to the appropriate knowledge base article:
To use your Web Folder once it is set up to manage your Filebox files, refer to:
Mac OS X v10.4To connect to the server directly in Mac OS X v10.4, refer to Connecting to Filebox or the Web Hosting Service Without Using Goliath in Mac OS X v10.4 (http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/2825/). Filebox Web InterfaceYou can use the Filebox Web interface to upload files, copy, move, delete, and rename files and folders. Furthermore, the Web interface is the only way of setting access restrictions on your folders.
