More Software ResourcesThis collection of software has proven helpful in the Virginia Tech computing environment and is offered as an information resource for students, faculty, and staff. You may also log on to the Network Software Login Web page using your PID and password to see other software downloads available to you according to your affiliation with Virginia Tech. ContentsSoftware for Multiple Operating SystemsCitrixIn the Virginia Tech computing environment, Citrix is currently used with Outlook for Mac OS to connect to the Exchange Server and for people with modem connections trying to connect to Banner. To download Citrix, go to Citrix's Download Clients page.GhostviewTo try Ghostview to view postscript files, refer to the University of Wisconsin's Ghostscript, Ghostview, and GSview page. MicrogradeMicroGrade is a spreadsheet program that keeps track of class rosters, grades, and other pertinent information. It can sort and compute various class data statistics. Online Faculty Access allows faculty to download their class rosters in either tab delimited or MicroGrade format. To download a trial version or to purchase this product, go to the MicroGrade Web site (http://www.chariot.com/micrograde/index.asp). Once MicroGrade is installed, you can download your rosters and import them directly. For technical support, refer to the MicroGrade Web site. SASSAS is one of the most widely used statistical applications at Virginia Tech. For information about SAS, how to obtain the software, available server resources, and how to get help with SAS, see the SAS at Virginia Tech page. SSHTo download SSH, refer to the SSH Communications Security Corporation non-commercial download site at Index of /pub/ssh. Symantec and Norton AntiVirusCurrent students, faculty, staff, and retirees may download Symantec AntiVirus for Windows and Norton AntiVirus for Mac OS by going to the Symantec Antivirus Downloads page. TeXFor information about TeX typesetting software and documentation, refer to the TeX Users Group's TeX Resources on the Web page. For an explanation of what TeX is, refer to Wikipedia's TeX article. VTnetVTnet is a software package written at Virginia Tech and distributed on CD-ROM that should be obtained and run on your computer before plugging into the network. For information on why this is a crucial step in setting up your computer and how to obtain the package, see the VTnet page.Windows SoftwareWebDriveYou can use the software WebDrive to publish and manage files and folders on your Web site. WebDrive is not a filemanager on its own but rather software that makes your Web site's files appear as a local drive. Just like the "C:" drive is your local harddrive, you choose which drive, such as "W:", that you want WebDrive to use for your site. In effect, when you are connected to your Web site via WebDrive, it is just like working on your local harddrive. You can use the familiar Windows Explorer or My Computer interface or any other filemanager software to drag-and-drop, rename and delete files, and create and remove folders. To obtain WebDrive, see Downloading and Installing WebDrive for Windows.Mac OS SoftwareGoliathWe recommend that you use the software Goliath to upload files to your Web site. Using Goliath is much like using an FTP client, e.g., Fetch. You can drag-and-drop, delete files, and create and remove folders. Unix and Linux SoftwarecadaverYou can use the software cadaver to upload files to your Web site. Refer to Downloading and Configuring cadaver for Unix and Linux to Connect to the Web Hosting Service. There are many commands for managing files and folders, including deleting files and folders, uploading and downloading test files, and printing working directories.
