Microsoft Windows Vista Information Center

Virginia Tech's Microsoft Windows Vista Information Center is a clearinghouse of information found by Virginia Tech IT staff that can be of assistance to anyone that is deciding when to upgrade to Windows Vista. As issues are discovered between Virginia Tech services and Windows Vista, this site will be updated to provide that information to our user community.


Known Issues with Windows Vista

Web Folders

The implementation of web folders in Windows Vista has changed and no longer works correctly with Virginia Tech's filebox service or web hosting service.


Applications Compatible with Windows Vista

For information on applications that are officially supported on Windows Vista by Microsoft's independent software vendor (ISV) partners, see Microsoft's Applications that have earned the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo or the "Works with Windows Vista" logo Web page.

Network Backup Service

TSM 5.5 is supported for use with Windows Vista.

PKI (eToken)

A new version of eToken software 4.5.39 that is compatible with Windows Vista is available from the Software Distribution Office.

Web Drive

A new version of Web Drive 7.22 that is compatible with Windows Vista is available from the Software Distribution Office.

VPN

To connect to the VPN in Windows Vista, you may log in using your Hokies ID and password instead of setting up a Remote Access Passphrase. For more information on this alternative, see Setting Your Remote Passphrase For VPN.
