view historyThe Exchange server is the premier email and calendaring solution for faculty and staff. The Exchange server provides a complete groupware environment, including integrated email, appointments, tasks, contacts, and public folders. You can use a variety of client applications to access an Exchange account.
The Virginia Tech Event Calendar provides a browsable list of events happening around Virginia Tech. Events range from sports events to musicals to academic enrichment programs. For each event, there is information regarding time, date, location, price, and sponsoring organization.
The Enterprise Directory (ED) is the current generation of the Virginia Tech LDAP Directory (VTLDAP). EduPerson 1.0 compliant, ED works with a wide range of applications developed for educational institutions. The VTLDAP allows programs the ability to make finer-grained authorization decisions, provides people with greater control over their information, and protects their privacy more effectively.
The following clients allow you to access the messages in your Exchange account. They are not designed to access your calendar, contacts, tasks, or public folders.

General Lists are ideal for departments, groups, and student organizations that need to communicate with a large number of people on a regular basis via email.
There are ways to format your mass email messages to minimize the burden on delivery systems. It is also possible to format these message in ways less likely to be flagged by email systems as spam, phishing attacks, or fraudulent mail.
Virginia Tech departments and registered student organizations can request a dedicated Web calendar for their group. Please read the information below to understand the details involved in maintaining a calendar. There are two primary types of accounts available on the Exchange server: Full Exchange and Calendar-Only. The descriptions below explain the functionality of each type to help you decide which account will meet your needs best. One difference to keep in mind is that email for Full Exchange accounts is delivered to the Exchange server, whereas email for Calendar-Only accounts is delivered to the VT Google Apps Mail.
