view historyYour Virginia Tech PID is a unique Personal IDentifier. With it and the associated password, you can access the online Virginia Tech services for which you may be eligible. Access to your PID will be terminated if you are no longer an employee, a retiree, or a sponsored person, and have not been a student.
Your Virginia Tech PID is a unique Personal Identifier. Your PID belongs to you and you only. Your PID and password grant you access to your Virginia Tech e-mail, online course materials (Blackboard), Filebox, Hokie SPA, My VT, the university library databases, and more.
My VT is a gateway or portal to Virginia Tech online services and information designed to be used by all Virginia Tech students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The automatic single sign-on capability My VT offers with several university services, such as Hokie SPA, Filebox, and Departmental Software, uses Central Authentication Services (CAS). Single sign-on means that once you log on to My VT, you won't have to retype your PID and password to access those online services. Featured also in My VT are several information channels that focus on a particular topic.
In Hokie SPA, you can view your class schedule, drop classes from and add classes to your schedule, or change the course options to A-F, pass/fail, or audit. However, these features are only available at certain times before and after the start of each semester.
Hokie SPA is a tool for students, faculty, and staff that allows you to view academic, financial, and other pertinent information about your relationship with Virginia Tech.
You can also find your grades for previous semesters, class schedules, financial aid reports, and much more.
The VT People Search uses affiliations to describe your association with Virginia Tech. You may have several relationships with Virginia Tech, and therefore, many affiliations. For example, many employees take a course, many enrolled students have an on-campus job, and many graduate students are alumni from their undergraduate days.
Account recovery options for PIDs provide a secure, effective, and easy way to recover access to your PID if you have forgotten your password.
Virginia Tech maintains personal information about employees, students, alumni, and other affiliates in order to provide services and conduct university activities and business. Some of this information is regularly published in online resources as well as in print publications and is gathered from the Enterprise Directory.
